VGP – The Central Committee of the Viet Nam Red Cross Society (VRCS) has decided to provide initial urgent support of $30,000 to help Nepalese people overcome the devastation caused by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck on April 25.

The VRCS has recently announced the aid package. The assistance money will be quickly delivered to the quake’s victims through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC),

Alongside its direct material aid, the VRCS also plans to mobilise donations, aid materials and volunteers to join the rescue and humanitarian operations in Nepal.

Earlier, the VRCS sent a condolence letter to the Nepal Red Cross Society while collaborating with the IFRC to draw up a list of experienced officials and experts ready to depart for Nepal if necessary.

The Nepal disaster has left more than 7,000 people dead and over 9,200 injured, while eight millions people have been affected across Nepal, according to an official report.

The IFRC issued an urgent appeal aimed at mobilising SFr 33.4 million (US$35.5 million) for the provision of essential services such as food, accommodation, safe water and hygiene, to 75,000 vulnerable victims.
