As of 17 May, according to the Nepali Home Ministry, the total accumulated number of deaths lies currently at 8 567 with 16 808 injured.
It is estimated that 25 000 classrooms have been destroyed, leaving 870 000 children without access to education. Over 3 500 schools have been affected, and across the four most affected districts of Gorkha, Dhading, Rasuwa and Sindhupalchowk, more than 60% of classrooms have some level of damage.
The European Union Civil Protection Team finished its mission and has left Nepal today, 17 May.
