Country: Nepal

HIGHLIGHTS

• Not all geographical areas, especially Village District Committees in northern areas, have been covered by health services.

• Addressing health workers’ emerging needs for shelter, food and psychosocial support remains an important priority.

• Ongoing efforts around management of patients with trauma and injuries as well as rehabilitation of the health system continue in all affected districts.

• The restoration of primary health care services is being done through a package of tents, essential medicines and supplies. This is meant as a temporary measure, in the worst affected areas of the districts before the monsoon begins.

• The departure of FMTs is being planned with health cluster partners and the MoHP services to avoid gaps in services.

• 47 National Medical Teams and 56 Foreign Medical Teams are working in the affected districts. At least 72 FMTs have completed their task and are preparing to leave.

• Ongoing priorities are to manage the injured, consolidate and standardize assessments, ensure coverage of areas beyond district capitals, prepare for the rainy season, restore primary health care services and provide rehabilitation support to the patients discharged from the hospitals
