RESPONSE ACTIVITIES & CONSTRAINTS

Since April, the Logistics Cluster has handled a total of 18,897 metric tons (mt) of humanitarian cargo for 141 humanitarian organizations.Over 6,800 truckloads have been dispatched from Kathmandu and the district hubs. Between 15 July and 15 August, 5,329 mt of cargo were handled for 53 organisations. Prioritisation for cargo transport is taking place under the list of priorities established by the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT).

A total of 9,640 m3 of storage capacity is currently available for humanitarian partners across nine logistics hubs strategically established across the country. With the opening of the Dhading Besi (Dhading) logistics hub in mid-July, the Cluster now has operational coverage of all the earthquake affected districts.

An Access Infrastructure Working Group has been established and endorsed by the Government and the HCT. The working group will focus on gathering available information on the access infrastructure network, selecting damaged roads or bridges and carrying out repair work to reestablish access to communities in need. Road assessments are ongoing in Sindhupalchok District, where activities will initially concentrate.
