HUMANITARIAN NEEDS

The following early recovery priorities have been set under the leadership of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) and the Ministry of Urban Development:

• For debris management and safe demolition, an estimated 1.5 million cubic metres of debris remains to be managed for some 3,200 public buildings in the 11 rural districts. Buildings at high risk of collapse posing safety risk for the public still need to be demolished.
To ensure a safer environment, removal and appropriate recycling of debris is critical.

• Some 400,000 households whose livelihoods have been disrupted need continued livelihood support and over 2,000 community buildings and infrastructure need to be restored.

• Damage assessments indicate that more than 370 district and Village Development Committee government offices were destroyed and are critical to restore to ensure access to government services.
