The last issue of Coping with Crisis this year is now ready. In this issue we look at migration and the psychosocial consequences of being on the move, whether because of war and conflict or in order to seek a financially more stable future.

How does a small island nation cope with an unexpected boat full of refugees? This is the challenge that faced Cyprus Red Cross last year, and psychosocial support coordinator Melissa Tsimon tells about how they rose to the challenge.

PhD student Keven Bermudez of Queen Margaret University in Scotland has talked to migrants in Barcelona about their struggle to build a new life for themselves in a Europe, which is increasingly struggling to find the resources to support them in doing so.

And what happens if your country is struck by disaster and you are far, far away? In the Maldives and in Hong Kong the Red Crescent and Red Cross National Societies provided support to Nepalese migrant workers, knowing that they were experiencing great distress and concerns about the consequences of the Nepal earthquake.

Being a migrant is not an easy life, whether you have chosen to move or have been forced to do so. But sometimes returning home is also a big challenge. This is what many Indonesian female migrant domestic workers realize when they return home with broken dreams and sometimes also broken bodies and minds. Indonesian Red Cross helps returning domestic workers re-integrate in their communities and to come to terms with the sometimes very unpleasant experiences they have had abroad.

Read about this and much more in the December 2015 issue of Coping with Crisis.
