Country: Nepal

The ADB program in Nepal has provided loans, grants and technical assistance to grow the country’s economy and improve the lives of people, particularly the poor, women, children and other vulnerable groups.

Total ADB assistance to Nepal since 1966 stands at $5 billion, with priority sectors being agriculture, education, energy, transport, and urban.

Nepal faces the challenges of recovering from the devastating earthquakes of 2015, which pushed about 3% of the population below the poverty line. ADB will work with Nepal to build sound institutional capacities for sector planning, project design and implementation, and sustainable asset management, while making the nation more resistant and resilient to natural calamities and climate change.

Updated yearly, this ADB Fact Sheet provides social and economic indicators on Nepal as well as concise information on ADB's operations in the country and contact information.
