◾Bhutanese refugees who do not wish to resettle in a third country have requested the Nepal government's support to be able to return to Bhutan. At a press conference on 16 July, the Chairman of the Bhutanese Refugee Repatriation Committee appealed to the Nepal government to coordinate with Bhutan for their repatriation.
◾Nepal has hosted over 100 000 Bhutanese refugees since early 1990s in seven camps in eastern Nepal. A large-scale third-country resettlement programme has been under way since 2007. Some 15 000 refugees remain in the camps and would prefer to have the option to return to Bhutan.
