Nepal: Japan donates four ambulance vehicles

Japan has provided four ambulances to Nepal Red Cross Society under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GAGHSP) of the Japanese government.

Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Masashi Ogawa handed over the keys of the ambulances to presidents of Routahat, Jajarkot, Khotang and Dhankuta branches of NRCS districts amidst a function conducted under chairmanship of NRCS chairperson Sanjeev Kumar Thapa held at NRCS office yesterday. Secretary General Mr. Dev Ratna Dhakhwa and other office bearers and key staff were present in the handover ceremony organized at the central office of Nepal Red Cross Society in Kathmandu.

The total amount supported to procure the ambulances is Rs 9.8 million (US$ 90,440).

Janpanese government had supported four ambulances in 2016. Those ambulances are serving local people.

H.E shared that the ambulances were provided to Nepal to help render effective healthcare services to the people in rural areas.

Chairman Thapa and Secretary-General Dev Ratna Dhakhwa extended their gratitude to the Government of Japan, Japan Red Cross Society and people of Japan for continued humanitarian assistance to Nepal in the sectors of drinking water and sanitation, among others for over three decades.

Nepal Red Cross Society has been providing ambulance services in a total of 205 places across 67 districts of the country.
