Children of media persons who were killed in course of the conflict met Prime Minister Sushil Koirala today.
In the meeting, PM Koirala expressed sorrow over the demise of journalists in the conflict and said that the innocent children had to face pain and agony during the conflict era even though they had done nothing wrong.
Overcome with emotion, PM Koirala in the meeting with the children expressed his commitment to manage the education for such children.
The Nepal Children Education Fund convenor Bishnu Nishthuri had arranged the meeting with PM Koirala.
As many 28 children of the 16 journalists killed in course of the conflict had met the PM Koirala today. The fund has been managing the education for these children since 2009, it is learnt.
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the Australian Journalists' Welfare Fund have been providing financial assistance for this purpose.
The fund annually organizes such meetings aiming to encourage and provide succor to the children, Nishthuri said.
