President Dr Ram Baran Yadav acquired information on the situation of the people taking shelter at Kalagaun based camp, who were displaced due to flood in Surkhet district.
During the visit, the flood victims complained to the president that the stock of food supplied by the government was finished and they were facing difficulties to make ends meet.
They appealed to the President to take initiatives for making necessary arrangements for supplying food to the camp.
Vice-chairman of the displaced flood victims' committee, Lalit Bahadur Shahi made an appeal to President on behalf of the victims for immediate reinstatement, free education and health-care facilities for the displaced children and job-assurance for at least one person from a displaced family.
The flood victims also made a request to consider a relief-package in view of the upcoming festivals. In response, President Dr Yadav urged the flood victims to keep patience and assured to take initiatives to inform the government, political parties, and concerned authorities about their condition for an appropriate solution to their problems.
President Dr Yadav also visited the child-friendly 'Safe Zone' managed for children inside the camp and acquired information regarding provisions for education, health and nutrition of the children.
Meanwhile, Minister for Irrigation, Narayan Prasad (NP) Saud said the government was working for the permanent management of the shelter for the displaced and assured that the government would provide some support keeping in view the upcoming festivals.
