Hundreds of families have been displaced by floods triggered by incessant rain in different parts of the eastern region in the past couple of days.
Several towns and villages in Jhapa, Sunsari, Morang and Udaypur districts have been swamped by floods, leaving normal life paralysed. In Jhapa more than 200 families in Paanchgachi, Rajgadh, Mahabhara, Chakchaki and Topgachhi areas have fled their homes after the inundation.
Transportation has been snapped on different sections of east-west highway in eastern region as the floods have damaged roads and bridges.
Reports say several villages in Morang and Sunsari districts are also affected by floods. Dozens of families in Rangeli, Baldanga and Govindapur VDCs in Morang have been displaced.
Similarly, much of the district headquarters Gaighat has gone under water. Dozens of families in Gaighat have shifted to safer places after their houses were inundated. However, no fatality in the floods has been reported as of Tuesday afternoon. Nepalnews.com
