Key Accomplishments:
The South Asia regional delegation (SARD) continues its technical advisory support with significant progress made in strengthening the tools and procedures of the respective National Societies in the region.
During the first and second quarter,
Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) developed the community-based disaster preparedness training manual.
ARCS developed information, education and communication (IEC) materials for disaster preparedness and risk reduction.
Project implementation plan of the multi-year disaster response capacity building project for ARCS was developed.
Department of Disaster Management (DDM) of Royal Government of Bhutan (RGoB) finalized the design of community-based disaster risk management (CBDRM) project.
Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC) developed guideline for community grant process for mitigation works would reduce disaster risk and incorporate climate change.
Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) developed the project management mechanism which would promote and ensure integrated project implementation for Koshi River community-based disaster risk reduction (CBDRR) project.
Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) strengthened its disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change work.
Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has updated its monsoon contingency plan 2013.
Preliminary support plans to develop beneficiary communications programmes were designed for Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. Support plans in the process of finalization for the National Society already with beneficiary communications programmes (Pakistan, Sri Lanka).
Technical support was provided to facilitate computerization of ARCS financial system and training to headquarters’ and regional finance teams on Navision accounting and logistic software.
Support and guidance provided for finance management training to Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and MRC national headquarters’ and district units.
