Seven persons have been killed and one person has gone missing in landslides at different places in Khimti VDC of Ramechhap district, Monday night.
Three persons of a same family were killed when their rented house was swept away in a landslide in Ward No. 2 of Khimti. The deceased are- Bhim Bahadur Tamang, his wife Batuli and his mother-in-law Kanchhi Tamang, local reports said quoting the police. Bhim Bahadur's 12-yr-old son Dhalke Tamang is missing while three members of the family were badly injured.
In a similar tragedy, a family in Katunje village lost three of its loved ones in the landslide last night. Mithu Thapa, his 22-yr-old daughter Swasthani and 13-yr-old son Kedar were killed when their house collapsed after continuous rainfall.
Likewise, one death was reported in Ward No. 3 of the same VDC. Sita Sunuwar, 13, was killed after her house got swept away.
Army and police teams have reached the landslide-hit areas to carry out rescue and rehabilitation works, reports said. nepalnews.com
