Out of 31 VDCs in Chitwan district, 12 are at the high risk of flood and landslide.
Balam Luintel, the Natural Disaster Management Source Person at the District Development Committee, Chitwan, said that the District Disaster Management Committee, Chitwan has been making preparation to reduce losses caused by natural disaster by putting the 12 VDCs at the high risk list.
Similarly, some wards of Ratnanagar and Bharatpur municipalities as well as Kumroj area of the newly declared Khairahani municipality have also been put at high-risk, added Luintel.
As per the statistics of the District Disaster Management Committee, Kalyanpur, Gardi and Baghauda VDCs are at the high risk of Reu river and other rivulets.
Similarly, Meghauli, Mangalpur, Divyanagar and Kabilas VDCs are at high risk of Narayani river and Jagatpur, Kathar, Piple, Bhandara and Patihani VDCs have been affected from Rapti river.
Hundreds of households at the surrounding of Narayani and Rapti rivers have been displaced time and again due to the natural disaster.
The floods that occurred on July 12 and 13 had claimed life of a person and more than 600 houses at Gardi, Kalyanpur and Baghauda were waterlogged due to this.
